(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan. 17. The United States today urged Britain and Yemen to end the border warfare between the Yemen and the British Protectorate of Aden. The State Department made the appeal after the Yemeni Charge d’Affaires, Assayed Ahmad Ali Zabarah, asked the United States for the second time in a week to help halt what he called “British aggression” against his country. The Yemeni diplomat said after a conference with the Assistant Secretary of State for the Middle East, Mr William Rountree, that “the United States is doing its best with our appreciation and gratitude.”
The State Department press officer, Mr R. Lincoln White, said . that Mr Rountree told Mr Zabarah that the United States had urged and would continue to urge the greatest restraint on the part of both Britain and the Yemen. Mr Rountree had expressed the strong hope that the differences ’ between the Yemen and the British authorities could be quickly resolved.
