Demand for Building Workers
Demand for workers for Wellington’s all-important building industry—carpenters, painters and plumbers—has increased considerably with the general resumption of activity after the holidays. A healthy recovery from the slackness qf the last few months before Christmas is indicated but union secretaries claim that the demand for labour was quite a lot higher at this time last year. The recent lifting of controls on major building projects has undoubtedly added impetus to the industry.—(P.A.)
