SEATO Post For V.C.
The former Australian High Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr A. R. Cutler, V.C., has been appointed Secretary-General of the SEATO Council of tne Foreign Ministers’ conference to be held at Canberra from March 11 to March 13.
Mr Cutler became Australian Minister to Egypt in 1955 but had to leave Egypt last year when the Egyptian Government broke off diplomatic relations with Australia over the Suez dispute. Th/? Minister for External Affairs, Mr Casey, said today that Mr Cutler would head the secretariat which was being set up to make administrative arrangements for the SEATO meeting.
