Notifiable Diseases

Eight cases of pemphigus neonatorum—a rash to which babies are particularly susceptible —were notified in the Christ-, church district during tne week ended January 12, according to ai report issued by the Health Department. The cases were not confined to any one hospital and were not above the average number, the District Medical Officer of Health (Dr. A. Douglas) commented. Other diseases notified in the Christchurch and Greymouth districts in the same .period were two cases of tuberculosis, one of eclampsia, one of erysipelas and one of infective hepatitis. No deaths from the diseases were reported.
