The Waimakariri Rural Fire District extends generally from KIMBERLEY on the South Bank of the WAIMAKARIRI RIVER to CHANEY’S and over to STEWART’S GULLY Railway Bridge, including portions of Yaldhurst and Harewood, and on the North Bank from the Railway Bridge to a point opposite Bleak house, KIMBERLEY, including portions of Clarkville and East Eyreton. Triangular fire notices are erected around the boundary of the district and at certain entry points. PERMISSION TO LIGHT FIRES for essential purposes only may be granted if weather conditions justify this, upon personal or written application at the Construction Office, Waimakariri Bridge (postal address, North Canterbury Catchment Board, 17 Stewart’s Gully road, Belfast, Christchurch), advising the extent and area of the burning required and the date or dates on which it is desired to burn. Each written permit is issued subject to confirmation by telephone on the day selected, just before lighting any essential fire. The attention of PICNICKERS, CAMPERS, FISHERMEN, SHOOTERS. AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC is directed to this WARNING, which applies to them as well as to occupiers of land.
