U.S. FLIGHTS TO ANTARCTIC
Globemaster May Go Today
Globemaster flights between Harewood and the Antarctic may be resumed today. A Globemaster is ready to take off from Harewood at 10 a.m. today for McMurdo Sound, but the timing of the flight depends on advice being received from the American supply base that the ice runway is fit for use. The first flight will be In the nature of a survey flight, and other Globemasters will follow only after the first aircraft has reported on conditions. Colonel H. A. Crosswell, the commander of the United States Air Force task unit with the American expedition, is expected to fly in the first aircraft to go south again.
