MARKETING OF POTATOES
SACKS MAY BEAR GROWERS’ NAMES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. The Minister of Agriculture (Mr K. J. Holyoake) has promised to take up with potato growers a suggestion that growers should mark their sacks with their names. Mr Holyoake made the promise in a letter to Mr Gordon Adams, an Auckland greengrocer and wholesaler, who recently wrote to the Minister complaining about the quality of potatoes and forwarding a parcel containing dirtencrusted potatoes, seedlings, and bits of string he found in one sack. Mr Adams said today that after recent publicity the quality of potatoes had improved considerably.
