TUNNEL ROAD AUTHORITY
Sir, —My handkerchief is readily available to dry Mr Macfarlane’s crocodile tears over his failure to secure nomination for the Tunnel Road Authority. The Socialist appetite for office is insatiable and, more than ever, one wonders what has happened to the old Labour doctrine of one man, one job. Even his own supporters must realise that Mr Macfarlane should not enlarge his already long list of offices, particularly by one which will require as much time as the Tunnel Road Authority. If Mr Macfarlane was on it, I suppose it too would have to meet on Monday.— Yours, etc., B. REASONABLE. December 24, 1956.
