Record Shopping In Australia
(Rec. 10 p.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 23 Australians are on a record Christmas shopping spree and have needed the circulation of £432m in Commonwealth bank notes. Since the beginning of December the bank has pumped £4Bm into the paper circulation—£l6m more than for the whole of December last year.
Stores in Sydney and Melbourne yesterday experienced one of the biggest. Saturday morning rushes on record.
