Mr G. F. Oakley retired yesterday after 52 years' service with Oakleys. Ltd., one of the best-known firms of plumbers’ merchants and sheet metal workers in New Zealand. For the first time since its establishment towards the end of the last century there will now be no member of the family in the firm. The firm, originally known as Taylor and Oakley, was founded by Mr Oakley's father about 1875. Mr Oakley joined at the age of 14 and became works manager about 10 years ago.
Messrs R. S. Abbott. R. A. Anderson. and M. C. Tipping, and Miss C. E. Dwew. of Christchurch, have been admitted as associate members of the Incorporated Institute of Accountants of New Zealand.
