EGMONT SEAT
MR W. A. SHEAT TO STAND
"The Press” Special Service NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 21. Mr W. A. Sheat, member of Parliament for Patea from 1943 to 1954. will be a candidate for the Egmont seat at the general election next year as a supporter of the National Party. He announced this after a deputation of party members from the electorate waited on him at Hawera.
Many electors had asked him to contest the election since the retirement of the sitting member. Mr E. B. Corbett, was announced, Mr Sheat said. He had waited until the constituency boundaries were clearly defined before stating his intentions.
