MILK POWDER MARKET IN BRITAIN
Prices for milk powder in Britain remain steady, but business has been quiet, according to the latest produce market report received by the Bank of New Zealand from its London office. This has been a result of the high production of English manufacturers and the falling off in the demand for animal feed. With reduced production this month, however, the trade exnects increased consumption. New Zealand quotations are: spray skimmed 95s per cwt delivered, roller skimmed 90s, spray butter-milk 84s, roller butter-milk ’ 795. These milk powder prices are Is below English quotations. The lactic casein market is quiet, and Argentine quotations have eased for prompt and forward shipment. Argentina remains the main source of supply, although limited quantities are being offered from Poland. Stocks in the United Kingdom still remain short with prompt prices firm.
