FARM PROPERTY SOLD
A well-known North Canterbury farming property at Hawarden. “The Peaks,” was offered at auction in two separate lots on Thursday. Lot one, of 359 acres, comprising 217 acres free hold and 141 acres lease-in-perpetuity leasehold, with a three-bedroom house with all modern conveniences, was sold for £2O an acre. Bidding opened at £l5 an acre and rose by £1 bids to the final figure.
Lot 2. of 217 acres of freehold land, subdivided into eight paddocks, mostly in pasture, was sold for £l4 an acre Bidding opened at £lO an acre and rose by £1 bids to the final figure The sale was a brisk one, about 20 persons attending. “Stonehaven,” a three-bedroom bungalow at 2 Flowers track, Sumner offered on account of Mr justice T A. Gresson, was passed in at £5900 Bidding opened at £5OOO. About 10 persons attended the sale.
