THE NEW ZEALAND-BORN CAPTAIN OF H.M.N.Z.S. ROYALIST, Captain P. Phipps, D.S.C. and bar, with the Minister of Defence, Mr T. L. Macdonald, on board the Royalist after the cruiser’s arrival in Auckland on Thursday. Captain Phipps joined the Canterbury Division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve as an ordinary seaman in 1928 and was commissioned in 1930.
