U.S. DAVIS CUP TEAM IN AUSTRALIA

The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia would be nappy if all members of the United States Davis Cup team remained in Australia after the Davis Cup challenge round to compete m the national championships, the association’s president. Mr Donald Ferguson, said last night He was commenting on a cabled report from a Neu York newspaper that the United States team members were being discouraged trom competing in the championships.
Mr Ferguson said that the United States captain. Bill Trabert, had told the as socic tion that Mike Green and Byron Franks were the only two'members able to remain in Australia for the championshins.
“If the others would stay we would be happy to pay them the same £9 daily allowance which Green and Franks will .receive,” he said.
