MINOR FIRES
A cigarette butt thrown irom a back window of the Savoy Hotel, 37 Manchester street, at 2 a.m. yesterday, sei sacks of coke alight. An engine ;F om - the Central fire station put out the fire. Only slight damage was done to the sacks.
A spark from a passing locomotive caused a grass fire beside the railway line near Watts road at 443 pm yesterday. An engine from the Sockburn station extinguished the fire.
