ROAD SAFETY FOR CHILDREN
“Encouraging” British Campaign
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 8 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 18. Encouraging results followed Britain’s “Mind that Child” national road campaign, according to the Ministry of Transport. In the three months, 41 fewer children were killed and more than 700 fewed injured than in the September to December period last year.
A record number of 15,000 children passed their cycling proficiency test organised by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. The Ministry added, however, that casualties were still “tragically high.” The number of children who died during the three months was 156. while seriously injured numbered 2474 and slightly injured 9052.
