RUGBY LEAGUE
NO AUSTRALIAN TOUR OF N.Z. THIS YEAR (New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND. December 18. There will be no tour of New Zealand by an Australian Rugby League team next season. A short letter from Australia advised this at tonight's meeting of the New Zealand Rugby League Council. "The tour cannot be undertaken because of the heavy programme next season,” said the Australian secretary (Mr H. Matthews). The question of future tours would arise at the next meeting of his league. Mr J. W. Watson said all the council could do< was to write expressing regret and repeating the request for a Queensland tour.
