ACCIDENTS MOTORIST KILLED

CAR AND HEAVY TRUCK COLLIDE

(New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 18. The driver of a light car was killed this morning when the car collided with a heavy truck on a bend about half a mile north of the Ravensthorpe Hospital, on the Great South road at Pukekohe. He was: Walter Walmsley Reid, aged 41, a salesman, of 23 Ingram street, Papakura. The driver of the truck was not injured.

BUILDER FATALLY INJURED

TIMBER THROWN FROM CIRCULAR SAW (New Zealana Press Association) HASTINGS. December 18. A builder was fatally injured while working a circular saw at Waipawa this morning. He was Edward Thomas Hale, aged about 45, of Lumsden road, Hastings. Mr Hale was operating a circular saw when a piece of timber flew off the machine, and cut his throat severely. He was rushed to a doctor, but died while being treated.

CHILD DROWNED IN RIVER

(New Zealana Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 18. John Ormsby Thomas, aged seven, who lived with his grandparents, Mr and Mrs G. Bryan, at Katikati, was drowned in the Tuapiro river at 4.30 p.m. today. The child went to the river with three other young children, none of whom could swim. When he was seen to be in difficulties, one of the children ran for help. The body was recovered this evening.

MOTOR CYCLIST HITS PARKED CAR FATALLY INJURED ON MAIN HIGHWAY (New Zealand Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Dec. 18. Receiving multiple injuries when nis motor-cycle crashed into a car parked on the New Plymouth-Waitara highway near New Plymouth this evening. William Boris Barishnikov, aged 26, died as he was being placed in an ambulance. He had been only three weeks at New Plymouth, where he worked for a stevedoring company. A single man. he had no relations in the Dominion. His parents live in the Isle of Man. CYCLIST INJURED When he fell from his bicycle in Upper High street about 6.45 p.m. yes terday, Mr Harry Walsh, of 15 Edmonds street, suffered injuries, and was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. His condition last even-* .jng was reported as satisfactory.
