Japan’s Entry To U.N.

(Rec. 11 p.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. 18. The General Assembly will devote its entire morning session today to admitting Japan to the United Nations. The Assembly is expected to vote unanimously by roll call in favour of a resolution co-sponsored by all the great Powers and a wide cross-sec-tion of other members. Up to last night, 45 nations had joined in cosponsorship. Others were expected to add their names to the list before today’s meeting began. The sponsors already include Britain, the United States, the Soviet Union, Australia and New Zealand.

japan’s admission will bring the United Nations membership to 80—20 more than its membershp at the start of the last Assembly, just over a year ago.
