B.B.C. CHRISTMAS BROADCAST

Duke To Take Part From Britannia

The Duke of Edinburgh is expected to take part in the 8.8.C.’s Christmas Day broadcast which will terminate with the message to the British Commonwealth from Her Majesty the Queen.

By Christmas Day the Royal Yacht Britannia, with the Duke of Edinburgh on board, will be deep in the Southern Ocean on its way to the Falkland Islands so his broadcast will be the most unusual ever made by a member of the Royal Family. The Britannia’s powerful transmitters will beam the Duke’s address directly to the 8.8. C. It is expected that he will speak immediately before the Queen. Although no official announcement has been made, it is expected also that the Duke of Edinburgh will speak personally to the Queen and his children on Christmas Day.
