TIMBER MILL DISMISSALS

MINISTER TO CONFER WITH ADVISERS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 17. The dismissal of 66 men from the Waipa State mill will be examined in detail by the Minister of Forests (Mr S. W. Smith) with his advisers tomorrow morning. Mr Smith, who is now in Auckland, will return to Wellington tonight, and has arranged for a conference with departmental officers at 9 a.m. No comment was available today from the Minister’s office on the men’s dismissal, or on the claim of Mr R. Eoord (Opposition, Rotorua) that the Waipa mill was being sacrificed so that the Tasman enterprise might succeed in its quest for markets.
