CHARTERIS BAY CLUB Three races were sailed at Charteris Bay on Sunday in rough north-easterly conditions. Many capsizes and minor mishaps kept the rescue launch busy. In the Z class trial, Junie, sailed by D. Eastmond, was the only boat to finish. Results were:— Pennant Race (Open Handicap) (race started 2 p.m.).—X.L. (G. Anderson), scr, 3.5.38 p.m., 1; Vaila (F. Mackey), 2min, 3.10.6 p.m., 2; Topaz (P. Pritchett), Imin, 3.10.50 p.m., 3; Vivid (I. Clarke), Bmin, 3.14.12 p.m.. 4. Z Class (third trial for Cornwell Cup) (started at 2.5 p.m.).—Junie (D. Eastmond skipper, R. Eastmond forward hand), 3.24.1 p.m., 1. P Class Handicap.—Tui (P. Rudkin) 1. Sea Bee (M. Service) 2, Linnet (W. Service) 3. WELLINGTON ENTRANT FOR TANNER CUP (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 15. By winning three races, P. Julian gained selection as Wellington's P Class representative in the Tanner Cup national yachting championships this season. Julian won his third race this morning, and scored a fifth win this afternoon to win the trials series. Racing at Heretaunga. off Petone Beach, Julian led his Evans Bay clubmate. R. Bradley, by 90 points when the series finished.
