Dear Sirs, I have now done 40,000 miles with my Renault Fregate, which I purchased from your firm about 2 years ago, and I would like to tell you I am delighted with the pleasure I have had from my Renault. The petrol consumption of my Renault has been most surprising, as on the last trip I had to Dunedin and return, about 3 weeks ago, I averaged 30 miles to the gallon. I consider this a wonderful performance for a car the size of the Renault. I put this down to the excellent overdrive on my car, which reduces the engine revolutions by a third. The hill-climbing is excellent, as I can journey through Dunedin and return in top gear. The independent suspension gives me a very comfortable ride and Is excellent on cornering. During the time I have had this car I have had no mechanical replacements whatsoever. The only expense I have had is grinding the valves occasionally. Another’’ important feature is that the body of my Renault is absolutely dust-proof. This is certainly appreciated. especially by ladies. I was so pleased with the performance of this model that I have now purchased a new Renault Fregate. Not that there was anything wrong with my old car, but just because 1 would like to change 1 to a new car. I tested my new Fregate on petrol consumption around town, on short trips, over a distance of 283 miles and averaged 26 miles to the. gallon. In conclusion I cannot speak too highly of Renault cars, as they? are certainly very low in overhead cost. Yours truly, (Sgnd.) E. W. George.
