FACTORY BUILDING AUCTIONED

£BO5O PAID FOR PREMISES IN CHRISTCHURCH A two-storey brick factory building on the corner of Tuam and Montreal streets was sold at auction yesterday for £BO5O. The building, owned by J. Mercer and Sons, Ltd., is on a section of 10.7 perches. It has a floor area of 5760 square feet. The rest of the property was offered as two separate lots, but, although bidding was brisk, both were passed in. The first lot, a two-storey plastered front building, with a doublefronted showroom downstairs, was passed in at £6400. The building stands on a 6J-percn section. It has frontages to Oxford terrace and Tuam street. The third lot, a two-storey wooden building, used as a fruit shop, with frontages to Oxford terrace and Tuam street, was passed in at £3BOO. Three of four seven-acre properties at Marshland were sold at auction recently. The highest price, £2350. was paid for a block with a frontage to Marshland road. The other two blocks sold, both back sections, brought £1650 and £1560. The other block was passed in. The properties were sold on account of the estate of John Thomas Borcoskie. A 54-acre property at Halswell, offered on account of Mr T. H. Tippet, was passed in at £Bloo—£lso an acre. Bidding opened at £lOO an acre. About 20 persons attended the sale. At another auction, a bungalow at 2 Whitfield street, Sumner, was sold for £1750. About 20 persons attended. A section of 43.5 perches in the Braco place subdivision, near Burnside road, Fendalton, was sold at auction last evening for £9OO. Four 36-perch sections with 90ft frontages in the same street were sold for £B9O, £BB5. £B5O, and £BOO. Four of the nine sections put up were not sold.
