FIRES SET IN TWO U.S. CHURCHES

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) TRENTON (New Jersey), Dec. 16. Two churches were set afire and attempts made to burn two others here during the night, police said today. More than 2Q0.000 dollars worth of damage was done to the historic First Methodist Church. A smaller blaze in the First Born Living Church, about one mile and a half away, was discovered soon after the alarm was sounded for the Methodist Church fire at 4.30 a.m. Police found two small churches near the First Methodist Church had been sprinkled with petrol. Last March, St. Mary’s Cathedral was gutted in a 3,000,000 dollar fire in which three persons died. The cathedral fire is still listed as suspicious.
