CHRISTMAS TREES FOR BRITANNIA

Yesterday afternoon, eight pinus Christmas trees were delivered to the Royal yacht Britannia by the New Zealand Forest Service. The request for the trees, which came from the Ashley and Eytewell plantations, meant a rush job for the Forest Service.

Another eight trees went to H.M.N.Z.S. Pukaki, Hawea, and Endeavour. This was also in response to a last-minute order.

Last year, trees were sent to United States Antarctic ships at very short notice. This year, however, the Forest Service had anticipated the demand and the trees were ready in advance.
