RHEUMATISM RESEARCH
VICTORIA COLLEGE PROJECT "The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, December 16. The School of Social Science. Victoria University College, will survey the extent and effects of rheumatism in Rotorua next year. The Carnegie Foundation has given the college a research grant for the purpose. During its surveys into the living conditions of people, the school’s investigators have been told by between a third and a quarter of them that they suffered from some form of rheumatism. Tliis and figures from other countries suggest that the complaint is a serious social problem. Between 15 and 20 investigators from the school, working in collaboration with the staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, will ask one in every six or seven adults in Rotorua to give about half an hour to answering questions about their health and other relevant matters. Dr. J. H. Robb, a lecturer at the school, recently made arrangements in Rotorua for the survey, which will probably begin in July.
