CANTERBURY CENTRE CHAMPIONSHIP A strong wind made conditions unpleasant when the senior, junior, and midget championships of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Marching Association were held at the Show Grounds on Saturday afternoon. Twenty-seven teams took part; and the midget section was won by Blue Star Taxis team. United Kilties won the junior section. In the senior section, C grade, Down■ngs Red Robins won. Marriotts won the B grade, and Gay Gordons the A grade. Caledonian, Gay Gordons, and Rochdale were selected to represent the centre at the South Island championships at Dunedin. Results:— Midgets.—Champion team: Blue Star Taxis; champion leader, Sandra Timms (Blue Star Taxis); aggregate, Blue Star Taxis; display, Blue Star Taxis; costume, Marathon. Juniors.—Champion team, United Kilties; champion leader, Lorraine Cairns (United Kilties): aggregate. United Kilties: display, United Kilties; costume, United Kilties and Renown (equal) 1. Seniors.—A grade: Champion team. Gay Gordons; champion leader, June Smith (Westminster); aggregate, Gay Gordons; •display, Gay Gordons; costume. Lordships. B grade: Champion team, Marriotts; champion leader, M. Lindsay (NuWay); aggregate, Marriotts; display. Marriotts; costume, Nu-Way. C grade: Champion team, Downings Red Robins; champion leader, Jill Henderson (Downings Red Robins): aggregate, Downings Red Robins: display, Downings Red Robins; costume, Downings Red Robins.
