The fifth round of matches in the lower grades of the Canterbury Cricket Association’s competitions began on Saturday. Results were as follows: SECOND tIRADE A St. Albans 198 (Haynes 66 not out; Montague five for 64) met Marist 188 for six (Stewart 65, O’Brien 50 not out). West Old Boys 200 (Woods 110 not out; Small five for 54) met High School Old Boys 189 for four. Boys’ High School 141 (Shepherd 42) met Sydenham 149 for four (Reece 51). SECOND GRADE B Old Collegians 88 (Penrose five for 19) met University 153 for eight. , SECOND GRADE C Papanui High School Old Boys (Marks 47; Thomas eight for 46) met West High School 99 for four (Thomson 42 not out). PRESIDENT’S GRADE Sydenham 165 for seven (May 84; Escott four for 48) beat High School Old Boys 163 for five declared (Baxter 88) on the first innings. Old Collegians 132 (McGlinchy five for .26, Frew’ five for 35) beat Riccarton 106 (Anderson 49; Morton four for 21) on the first innings. THIRD GRADE B East Christchurch 177 (Skull four for 54) beat Technical Old Boys 56 (Scott six for 27, Adamson four for 9) and 37 (Adamson five for 12) by an innings and 84 runs. Lancaster Park 122 beat Old Collegians B 95 (Townshend five for 35) on the first innings. Marist B 99 (Sullivan eight for 16) and 48 for four (Sullivan four for 21) beat Old Collegians A 57 (Haw’kins five for 26) on the first innings. Marist A 131 (Lord four for 21) beat Riccarton 91 on the first innings. Papanui High School Old Boys 176 (Haywood 46) beat West Old Boys 65 (Saunders six for 24) on the first innings. St. Albans beat Sydenham by default. FOURTH GRADE A High School Old Boys 156 for three (Ford 52 not out. Aitken 42 not out) beat East Christchurch A 48 (Hay six for 27, Cations four for 20) on the first Innings.
