Volunteer Reserve’s Duties
The visit of the Royal Yacht Britannia to Lyttelton is a memorable occasion for members of the Canterbury Division of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve.
The division is providing wharf parties and ceremonial sentries for the Britannia, and its 72-foot defence motor launch is providing a continuous day and night harbour guard.: The division’s first sentry on the Britannia's gangway was mounted by Able Seaman P. J. McKeogh, shortly .before the Duke went aboard las't evening.
