THE WESTERN ALLIANCE
“Back On Road To Unity” (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, December 16. The United States Secretary of State (Mr Dulles) reported to President Eisenhower yesterday that the Atlantic alliance was back on the road to unity. Mr Dulles conferred with Mr Eisenhower immediately on his return from the NATO meeting in Paris. He told reporters that he advised Mr Eisenhower that the Atlantic community was showing renewed evidence of vigour and unity. The Pans meeting achieved important and productive results in repairing the damage the alliance suffered when the United States opposed Britain and France over the invasion of the Suez Canal area, Mr Dulles said. The formal council meetings and talks with other Foreign Ministers helped restore a sense of fellowship which would enable NATO to become even more solid structure.
