CRICKET M.C.C. LOSES AT PRETORIA
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) PRETORIA, December 11. A South African eleven beat the M.C.C. in their four-day match which ended at Pretoria today, by 38 runs. The M.C.C. were all out for 109. This was the first loss sustained by an M.C.C. team in South Africa, apart from tests, since 1914, and the first in history on a South African turf pitch. Hugh Tayfield. who was virtually on trial to see if he could regain a place in South Africa’s test team, finished off the M.C.C. He took the two outstanding wickets, which added 14 runs this morning, to give him six for 47. In the first innings he had six for 36 and so returned match figures of 12 for 83.
