CLAIM FOR LAND ACQUISITION
£24,038 AWARDED MARKET GARDENER (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 12. In an interim reserved judgment the Auckland Land Valuation Court has awarded compensation totalling £24.038 to an Auckland Chinese market-cardener against the Auckland Metropolitan Drainage Board, for the loss of an area of 51 acres of land acquired by the board from the gardener under the provisions of the Public Works Act. 1928. The action seeking £34.070 compensation was brought in October by Ng Wai Shing and the estate of his late father. Ng Wui Hong. The board offered £18.385 compensation.
In the judgment the Court has awarded £298 in respect of items agreed upon. £20.590 in respect of the land, £l7OO for loss of income incurred because of the shift to new land. £1250 for loss of income caused by the farming of new land and £2OO for stamp duty.
