SENTENCE REDUCED ON APPEAL
WOUNDING OF CONSTABLE AT ROXBURGH HYDRO

The Court of Appeal today delivered judgment in an appeal brought by Desmond William Maxwell, aged 25. of Dunedin, against a sentence of 1# years’ imprisonment for wounding a constable at Roxburgh Hydro on May 18. Maxwell was sentenced by Mr Justice Henry after a trial in the Supreme Court in Dunedin. The Court of Appeal substituted a sentence of seven years’ imprisonment, to be served concurrently with sentences for other offences which Maxwell had received from Mr Justice Henry at the Supreme Court trial.
