FAT PIGS ~ There was a very heavy yarding in the porker section which included six bucks oi pigs iron) outside districts. Quality was not up to the usual standard, a large proportion of the entry being too tat. Values eased by 4s to 8s a head, excepting for the very best quality which practically maintained last week’s rates. Choppers were forwarded in medium numbers and there was very little change in values. In the bacon section the yarding was the largest so far this season and here again a large proportion were much too tat. For best quality the market was easier by 4s to 10s a head and the heavy and overfat types were back by about 20s a head. Values were: Light porkers, £7 3s 6d to £7 16s 6d. Medium porkers, £8 Is 6d to £8 9s 6d. Heavy porkers, £8 4s 6d to £8 12s 6d. Choppers, £9 8s 6d to £l2 Is. Light baconers, £8 19s 6d to £9 19s 6d. Medium baconers, £lO 2s 6d to £lO 14s 6d. Heavy baconers, £lO 19s 6d to £ll 14s 6d. STORE PIGS Entries were a little larger in the store pig section but quality was not quite so good. The attendance of buyers was slightly smaller and the sale opened on an easier tone. Over the latter part, however, values improved and- best quality pigs firmed to practically last week’s rates. Values were: Small weaners, 60s to 755. Best weaners, 85s to 105 s. Slips, 100 s to 108 s. Small and medium stores, 110 s to 1255. Large stores, to 130 s.
