SOLDIERS MEET DUKE
REPRESENTATIVES OF TWO REGIMENTS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 12. The'Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel-in-Chief of two New Zealand regiments having affiliations with United Kingdom regiments, of one of which the Duke is also Colonel-in-Chief, today met representatives of ,the OtagoSouthland Regiment, and the Hawke's Bay Regiment. His Royal Highness became Colonel-in-Chief of these two regiments when he was in New Zealand with Her Majesty. The meeting, at Government House, was the Duke’s first engagement for the day. It lasted about naif an hour. The Otago-Southland Regiment was represented by Brigadier A. S. Falconer, Colonel of the regiment; Lieutenant-Colonel G. A. Murray, Commanding Officer, Ist Battalion; Major B. H. Palmer. Company Commander; W.0.l A. T. Ramsav, Regimental Sergeant-Major: and W. 0.2 W. G. Agnew, Company Sergeant-Major. The Hawke’s Bay Regiment was represented by Colonel R. F. Gambrill, Colonel of the regiment: LieutenantColonel J. R. Harrison, Commanding Officer, Ist Battalion: Major N. M. Cotching. Second in Command; Second-Lieutenant R. Crooks, Platoon Commander: W. 0.2 R. H. Hartley. Regimental Sergeant-Major: Sergeant K. Karaka; and Lance-Corporal R. L. Petersen. Apart from the formalities of introductions. the meeting was completely informal. The Duke talked with many of the representatives of the regiments.
