IMPORTS WITHOUT LICENCES
MINISTER’S WARNING (A'fw Zealand Prtu Association) WELLINGTON. November 20. A warning to importer’s not to import goods still subject-to import control without first obtaining an import licence was given today by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr E. H. Halstead). He said that some importers were showing either carelessness or disregard of their obligations by ordering and importing without first seeking the necessary licence. A breach of the import control regulations could incur fines up to £2OO or the value cf the goods if greater, as well as forfeiture of the goods. Those who failed to comply with the import control regulations in future would find the law’ strictly enforced.
