PARLIAMENTARY ELECTORATES
Fixing Of Boundaries COMMISSION’S FIRST FULL MEETING (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. November 19. The first full meeting of the Representation Commission, which fixes the boundaries of the 76 European constituencies, was held in Wellington today. The commission, whose deliberations are private, will continue sitting this week. It is understood that the commission aims to have most of its work on the provisional boundaries finished this week. When this work is completed the provisional* boundaries are gazetted. Time is then allowed for objections before the commission fixes the final boundaries. The chairman of the commission, who was appointed last week, is Mr A. Coleman, a retired Magistrate. The official members are the Government Statistician (Mr G. E. Wood), the Surveyor-General (Mr R. G. Dick), the Director of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr C. A. McFarlane), and the Chief Electoral Officer (Mr S. T. Barnett). The unofficial members are Mr R. C. Reid (Government nominee), and Mr A. J. McDonald (Opposition nominee).
