BOTH BOATS? PASS TESTS (Rec. 10 p.mj MELBOURNE, Nov. 19. Both New Zealand yachts entered for the Olympic Games have passed, the strict specification test, and are eligible for the racing. Courses have now been marked out in Port Philip Bay and the two crews can now test themselves —and sailing conditions—over the championship distances. S”unnerton and A. W. Cuthbertson, of Auckland. Dragon class boats are ’ 9ft 2in long, and carry 259 square feet of sail. I’ew Zealand’s other entry, Jest, is in the Sharpie class for yachts 19ft Bin long with 4ft 7in beam and 120 square feet of sail. Home-built by her owner, P. G. Mander, of Christchurch, with the help of friends, the Jest will be sailed by Mander, with J. U. Cropp as his forward hand. Mander and those who assisted him can take some pride in the fact that their work has passed the exacting Olympic specifications. Most of the overseas yachts in the Games are built by professionals.
