WRESTLING JUDGE HONOURED
SOCIAL FUNCTION FOR MR J. MCINNES
New Zealand’s first Olympic wrestling judge and referee, Mr Jack Mclnnes, of Canterbury, was the guest of honour at a social organised by the amateur wrestlers of Canterbury on Saturday evening.
Mr W. Roberts, a senior member of the Canterbury Amateur Wrestling Committee, said Mr Mclnnes’s selection was an honour for his province and for New Zealand.
Mr Mclnnes said that apart from his allotted task of refereeing and judging, he had every intention of studying the various overseas techniques. To this end he has made tentative arrangements to wrestle against various teams, as he thought that he would learn far more in actual combat than as a spectator.
