CHAMPION OF ELEGANT SIMPLICITY was the description given by Carmel Snow, editor of “Harper’s Bazaar," of the theatre-dinner ensemble of pale blue satin brocade (left) shown recently in the French fashion parades in Paris. The fabric has a tiny gold pattern, and the blouse worn under the jacket is sleeveless. The fashion in England for a frock and matching jacket is shown in the ensemble on the right. Designed by Digby Morton, and shown in his spring-summer collection this year, the olive green ensemble is in a new weave of cotton and rayon which has a hand-knitted appearance.
