Mariposa Ends Her Shake-Down Cruise
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) (Rec. 10 p.m.) SAN FRANCISCO. October 18. The Mariposa, the Matson Navigation Company’s first entry into luxury travel competition to New Zealand and Australia, will arrive here tomorrow after a shake-down cruise from Portland. Oregon, where she was modernised. She will leave San Francisco on her maiden voyage to the South Pacific on October 26. A sister ship, the Monterey, will enter the service in January. The vessels have been designed as “one class—first class” ships and refitted with luxurious South Pacific decor for the comfort of the 365 passengers. . The cabins are air conditioned with individual cabin temperature conrols.
