India Batting In Test With Australia
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) MADRAS, October 19 India won the toss 'if the first test against Australia and is batting. Within 48 hours of leaving the semidesert areas of Karachi, he Australian cricketers started the first of three tests against India in *he tropical greenery of Madras, on a turf pitch made of clay. There was no change in the behaviour of the crowd. Uke Karachi spectators, they are fanatical cricket lovers, rarely quiet. About 20.000 were present when play started. The Australians resumed after lunch hoping the openers would not repeat the partnership of 413 scored in the test against New Zealand earlier this year Benaud prevented this Mankad attempting his second four in an over, skied a catch to the covers. and Roy was caught by Harvey in the slips.
