WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS

Marshland.—The birthday party of the branch took the form of an afternoon gathering. Mrs C. Ching welcomed the guests and members and presented floral gifts. Enjoyable items were contributed by Mrs D. Kiesanowski (piano accordion); Miss Jewel Lawson (recitations): Mrs L. Turner (songs) and two short sketches were given by members. The birthday cake made by Mrs A. MacLauchlan was iced by Mrs E. Treleaven and cut by Mrs Gottermeyer.

Christchurch.—The twenty-seventh birthday party of the branch was held at the monthly meeting. Mrs M. E. Orchard, on behalf of the guests, congratulated the branch and spoke on the early history of the branch, and said it was the first branch formed in Canterbury. Mrs Orchard cut the cake which was made by Mrs Wolff. Mrs D. Pashby gave a programme of humorous recitations. Mrs R. G Wolff presided and presented posies to the guests Harewood.—lt was agreed at the monthly meeting of the branch to visit a factory. An illustrated talk on her overseas tour was given by Mrs Nicholls. Mrs A J. Sharp presided. Riccarton.—Mrs M McNair and her concert party provided the entertainment at the twentv-first birthday party of the branch. Mrs R Ambridge welcomed the visitors and Members. Mrs Rutherford, the first president, lit the candle on the birthday cake, which was cut by Mrs O’Neill, the first secretary. Hoon Hay.—Members of the drama circle provided the programme at the monthly meeting of the branch Mrs Keith presided.

Wairakei.—A demonstration of floral work was given at the monthly meeting of the branch by Mrs C. Wilson. Mrs F. Johnson presided.
