HEALTH STAMP SALES
WELLINGTON LEADS CHRISTCHURCH
With £14,269 raised, Christchurch, is second only to Wellington in sales of health stamps after the first two weeks of the 1956-57 campaign. This is £1237 less than the record sum of £15.506 raised in Christchurch in the corresponding period last year. Wellington has reduced considerably the deficit disclosed in Sales for the first week of the campaign, and has now sold the greatest number of stamps. Total sales to date are £106,968, which is £3790 less than sales for the first two weeks of last year’s campaign. Increases over last year’s figures are shown in the Blenheim, Gisborne, Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, and Westport districts. Sales in other South Island centres for the two weeks of the 1956-57 campaign, with figures for the corresponding period last year are: Blenheim, £1024 (£1003); Dunedin, £8950 (£9603); Greymouth, £1703 (£1827); Invercargill. £4828 (£5246); Nelson. £1944 (£2035); Oamaru, £l3OB (£1464); Timaru. £3266 (£3413); Westport, £584 (£573).
