LADIES’ GOLF UNION

Annual meeting at NEW PLYMOUTH NO CHANGE IN RUSSELL GRACE CUP CONTEST (New Zeaiana Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. October 14. It was decided by the annual meeting of the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union at New Plymouth on Friday evening that the Russell Grace Cup for inter-provin-cial competition should continue to be run as a national fixture, and should not be divided into North Island and South Island contests.

The following officers were elected:—* patron, Mrs G. Williams; president, Miss E. M. B. Nutt: auditor, Mr E. D. Rex: new committee members. Miss E. P. Harding (Northland), Mrs J. R. Morris (Auckland), Mrs D. M. Wilson (Waikato), Miss A. Mark (Thames Valley-Bay of Plenty). Mrs L. R. Curtis (Taranaki). Mrs W. M. Coxhead (South Canterbury), Mrs G. M. Burnett (Otago), Mrs J. R. Sievwright (Southland), Mrs V. S. Land (Wellington). Dates of next year’s tournament were fixed as follows:—veterans’ tournament, at Hanmer Springs. April 9, 10. 11, 12: autumn foursomes, at Taumarunui. April 30, May 1. 2; New Zealand championships, at Hamilton, October 31 to November 6. A suggestion was made that a national | mixed foursomes fixture should be intro-

duced and run on similar lines to the British Warplesden foursomes. The meeting decided to send a letter to the New Zealand Golf Council, outlining the proposal. A Tauranga delegate, who introduced the stibject, said her club thought it would be a good idea to have the better men players competing with the better women players. The president (-Miss Nutt) said the rules of the Warplesden foursomes provided that the limit of the handicaps' was eight for women and five for men.
