U.S. CLAIMS FOR PLANE LOSS

The United States Government, in a Note handed over in Moscow today, claimed 1,355,650 dollars and 52 cents for the shooting down of a naval patrol plane by Soviet aircraft over the Japan Sea more than two years ago. The State Department, releasing the text of the Note today, recalled that the incident had been brought to the United Nations Security Council in 1954. The Note claimed almost 1.000,000 dollars for the aircraft itself and its equipment. The incident occurred on September 4, 1954, and the lost plane a United States Navy Neptune-type patrol aircraft. The Note claimed 50,000 dollars as damages due to the next-of-kin of the one crew member killed, arid another 50,000 dollars for “injuries to the nine surviving members of the crew.” The Note also claimed more than 300,000 dollars in respect of “damage to the United States by the wilful and unlawful conduct of the Soviet Government.”

Malayan Rubber For China (Rec. 10 p.m.) SINGAPORE. Oct. 14. The first shipment of Malayan rubber to China since the Korean War left Singapore today on the Dutch steamer Van Noort. The consignment consisted of 350 tons of rubber for Tientsin and 50 tons of latex for Shanghai.
