TOPICS OF INTEREST TO WOMEN
MR HOLLAND TO MEET ORGANISATIONS
(New Zeatana Press Association) WELLINGTON, October 2. Subjects ranging from equal pay to corporal punishment for sex offenders may be discussed tomorrow at the meeting the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) is to have with representatives of 14 women’s organisations. Most of the organisations have indicated that they wish to discuss equal pay, but there is a number of other topics various organisations have indicated they also would like to be considered for discussion.
They include housing for single women, jury service for women, the appointment of women to Government and semi-Government organisations such as the Parole Board, the raising of the age of consent, opportunities in rural education, corporal punishment for sex offenders, and the payment of Social security benefits by post. The Prime Minister will have with him at the meeting the Minister for the Welfare of Women and Children (Dame Hilda Ross), the Minister of Education (Mr R. M. Algie), the Minister of Justice (Mr J. R. Marshall), the Minister of Health (Mr J. R. Hanan), and the Minister of Social Security (Mr D. J. Eyre).
