OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, September 21. , The weather forecast, issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 27 hours after the time Gf issue, Situation:— An anti-cyclone centred east of New Zealand is moving away, as an extensive complex low-pressure system over the Western Tasman Sea moves east. Forecast:— Canterbury.—Moderate north-easter-lies about the coast and north-wester-lies, fresh at times, in inland places; fair weather, but much high cloudiness; warm day temperatures away from the coast; outlook, cloudy weather. Westland and Buller.—Moderate winds from a northerly quarter predominating; cloudy skies; some drizzle or light rain developing in the day or at night; moderate to mild temperatures; outlook unsettled, with rain. Nelson.—Moderate northerlies predominating; weather fair and mild; outlook, cloudy, with rain later. Marlborough. North - westerlies, fresh in exposed areas; fair or fine weather in the east; cloudy weather elsewhere. Some rain developing in the Sounds later; outlook, unsettled. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER After a frost of 23 degrees, the weather in Christchurcn yesterday was fine and sunny, with a light north-east wind. The maximum temperature was 66 4 degrees. At midnight, the sky was almost clear, and a three-knot north-west wind was blowing. The temperature was 41.3 degrees. The barometer, at 30.(Min (1G17.6 millibars), was falling.
